Description

The Prepress and Bindery Specialist is responsible for organizing and preparing electronic documents for printing, operating high volume commercial printers and other bindery machinery, and packing printed and bound materials for shipment. The Prepress and Bindery Specialist works accurately and efficiently with their team to meet department goals.   

   

We’re excited to hire a new Shop Production Support who can:   

  • Review and prepare electronic documents for printing.
  • Operate and maintain high volume commercial printers.
  • Operate machines such as pre-press, bindery, paper cutter, punch, folder, and shrink wrap machine.
  • Operate paper hole drill machines and electronic paper cutters.
  • Coordinate shrink wrapping, boxing, and preparing orders for shipment through UPS and shipping using a USPS postage machine.
  • Perform other duties as necessary, such as inserting pages and chapter tabs into newly printed volumes.

There is no perfect candidate, but we are looking for:  

  • Skilled with computers and competent with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Acrobat.
  • Knowledge of the operation and maintenance of document reproduction and bindery equipment.
  • Knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions necessary in print shop and document reproduction work.
  • Ability to organize and complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple tasks with frequent interruptions or changing priorities.
  • Ability to use pre-press, bindery, paper cutter, folder machine and plastic wrap machine.
