As the Vice President of New Business Sales, you will play a pivotal role in driving the growth of our organization through the acquisition of new business opportunities within the government sector. The ideal candidate will bring a wealth of experience in government software sales, possess advanced reporting and analytical skills, and demonstrate expertise in strategic selling methodologies (SPIN, Sandler, Solution Selling, MEDDIC, etc.). This leadership position requires a strategic thinker with a proven track record of delivering results, exceptional analytical capabilities, and the ability to lead and inspire a high-performance sales team.

We’re excited to hire a new Vice President of New Business Sales who can:

Strategic Leadership:

    • Develop and implement a comprehensive new business sales strategy aligned with the overall business objectives.
    • Provide strategic direction to the sales team, ensuring alignment with company goals and market trends.

Team Management:

    • Lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing sales team through effective coaching, mentoring, and performance management.
    • Foster a positive and collaborative team culture, promoting continuous learning and professional development.

Sales Operations:

    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the new business sales function, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track the success and effectiveness of sales initiatives.

Market Analysis:

    • Stay abreast of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and threats.
    • Utilize market insights to refine and optimize sales strategies.

Client Acquisition:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients and stakeholders.
    • Directly engage with high-potential clients to drive sales and close strategic deals.

Revenue Growth:

    • Set and achieve revenue targets, driving profitable growth for the organization.
    • Develop and manage sales forecasts and budgets to meet financial objectives.


    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, product development, and customer success, to ensure a seamless customer experience.
    • Work closely with the executive team to align sales strategies with overall business goals.

Reporting and Analysis:

    • Provide regular, accurate, and insightful reports on sales performance to the executive leadership team.
    • Conduct in-depth analysis of sales data to identify areas for improvement and optimization.

There is no perfect candidate, but we are looking for:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business, Sales, Marketing, or related field. MBA is a plus.
  • Experience: 10 years of progressive experience in sales leadership roles, with a proven track record of successfully driving new business growth.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding of the Government Technology Industry (or complex SAAS software) with the ability to anticipate market trends and identify opportunities.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong leadership and people management skills, with the ability to inspire and lead a diverse team.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Results-Oriented: Demonstrated ability to set and achieve challenging sales targets.
